Description: This print was part of an exhibition in the President's Gallery titled "No Art : Art Show" and was donated to the permanent collection at the close of the show. The following description accompanied the image on a label:
In physics, there are two types of elementary particles: fermions (that make up matter) and bosons (that transmit energy). Supersymmetries exchange these particles, so every boson has a fermion partner and vice-versa. Adinkras are diagrams showing these supersymmetries as a web of colored lines connecting the particle pairs, and their structure is determined by binary error correcting codes. This is the Adinkra for four copies of the extended Hamming code. It has 32 colors of supersymmetries, with 65536 particles and over a million lines.
